It started off with a very early get up to make sure that we were at school for 5am! Once we were all here, we got on the coach to Preston before boarding the train down to London. At this point we were very tired but plenty of sweets and drinks soon gave us the energy we needed!

We arrived in London around 9am and immediately sped off across the city to make it Westminster on time. After an impromptu parade from the Queen’s guard, we made it just in time. Once we made it inside Westminster, we were met by our local MP (Lindsay Hoyle) who took us into the House of Commons – where David Cameron makes our laws – and into the House of Lords. The room was spectacular! After that, we went up to Lindsay’s offices where we had a question and answer session. He explained why he wanted to be an MP and what makes a good MP. Then we gave him a grilling about education and the SATs tests we’d just undertaken.

Next came the really special moment, we discovered that we’d won the film competition! Lindsay congratulated us and said that he couldn’t wait to see it when we hold our premiere!

Then we boarded the (very busy) London Underground and raced over to Piccadilly. We were attending a special screening of all of the winning films in the IntoFilm space competition. When we arrived, a film crew recorded our entrance and we got some much needed popcorn! Before all the films were played, we got a special message from Tim Peake in space, who thanked us for the films and said how fantastic they were. Next came the really special bit, Tim Peake said our school’s name in outer space! Then, we watched our film on a huge cinema screen, which was a brilliant moment!

After the screening had finished, we explored London and did lots of sightseeing. We looked at Big Ben, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace (we even caught a glimpse of Princess Anne in her car). Once our feet couldn’t take any more walking, we returned to Euston ready to board our train home (obviously having a Burger King before we boarded!).

It was an extremely long day but was absolutely brilliant!

#bestdayever

{gallery:London Calling!}
, 15 Jun 2016 15:27:32 GMTYARROW CLASS VISIT LONDON!
@Yarrow_Class
, 25 May 2016 14:24:31 GMTCross Country Competition & Fun Run
The children had a fantastic day at the Chorley Schools Sports Partnership Cross Country Competition & Fun Run in Astley Park!

All of our runners gave it their best and were wonderfully behaved. It was a real shame that the planetarium wasn't working! But it didn't put a dampner on the day. The children were still able to explore all the different floors of the museum and had a fantastic day.

{gallery:Liverpool World Museum 2016}
, 02 Feb 2016 13:13:33 GMTChorley Schools Sportshall Athletics Final
On Friday 22nd January our Sportshall Athletics Teams took part in the Chorley Schools Sportshall Athletics Final at Clayton Green Sports Centre. In total there were 6 heats that took place across Chorley running up to the final and both of our teams made it through.

The day began with the Y3 & Y4 team final. All of the children competed brilliantly and yet again they finished in 1st place! We are so proud of them all!

In the afternoon it was the turn of our Y5 & Y6 team. They had also trained extremely hard in the run up to the final after being pipped to 1st place and finishing 2nd. Again, all of the children competed brilliantly and put in 100%. They finished in 2nd place just 40 points behind the winners!

Overall the day was a fantastic sporting event. We were lucky enough to have a visit from Great Britain heptathlete Jess Taylor!

Jess spoke to us about the events she competes in and brought in some of the equipment that she uses to compete. She also brought her Bronze medal from the 2014 Commonwealth games in to show everyone. Jess is hoping to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Before the event, each of the children took part in a sponsored fitness circuit, which is raising funds to purchase new PE equipment. The children put lots of effort in and showed a great attitude (despite some tired legs!)
